The Beach And It’s Nothingness: A Short Story Until My Next Novel Comes Out

A short story spinoff to my dark fantasy series, “Michael’s Wing”

SETTING: BEACH – NIGHTFALL

A wingless angel, with blue short hair, sits at the edge of the beach’s wave, her feet barely away from the back-and-forth tide. Her eyes match her mystical blue hair, as she looks off into the distance of the massive moon in the sky.

Beside her, is another short haired angel, though unlike her, his hair doesn’t touch his shoulders. His hair resembles that of a low hair cut almost, being black in eyes and hair.

Both angels are without wings. Both angels have names, with the mid-twenties looking angel woman, being addressed as Crystal, and the late twenties male, being known as Autumn.

Autumn stares into the distance with his lover.

CRYSTAL: I remember when I was first banished, I didn’t believe I would ever see you or the beach’s nightfall at the same time, ever again.

AUTUMN: I told you I was going to see you again. I wasn’t going to let Michael or any other angel in heaven, keep us separated.

CRYSTAL: I appreciate it; I really do, Autumn, but the catastrophe that will be brought to your world if you are discovered crossing the boundaries of heaven –

AUTUMN: What catastrophe? (Turns her way and faces her) Crystal, my world was already catastrophic when you were taken from me.

CRYSTAL: I understand, Autumn, but you shouldn’t keep sneaking out to see me.

AUTUMN: Why not? You’re the love of my eternity. Don’t you love me as well?

CRYSTAL: (Turns in his direction with sympathetic eyes) Of course I love you. I’ve always loved you, even before you ever loved me. (Places her hands on top of his against the sand) But that’s why I’m overly concerned about all of this. Sigh. Autumn, I’ve accepted my fate. I went with my heart twice and I’m okay with any outcome that has occurred because of it. But I wouldn’t be okay with anything happening to you, because of my choices.

AUTUMN: (Eyes and tone of sadness) So…what exactly are you saying?

CRYSTAL: This has to be our last time together, Autumn.

MALE VOICE: It will be.

A man fades into existence not too far from them. He takes a few steps into the direction of the angels.

Both angels recognize him, immediately getting up as the left hand of the all-powerful archangel, Michael, is present before them. His name is Albedo.

ALBEDO: You make no sense to me, Autumn. There are so many other angels above. Why risk Paradise for a fallen one?

Autumn takes his place in front of Crystal, as if he is shielding her.

AUTUMN: There’s no point in me answering you, Albedo. You’re just another one of Michael’s pawns. You’re not going to hear anything I’m saying. So if you’re going to do away with me, then do it already. (Looks back at his lover with saddened eyes) I’ll still have her, no matter where you send me.

ALBEDO: Nothingness will have you both. Death is the least of your worries.

A massive light emits from Albedo, and Autumn rushes to cover Crystal with his own body. The entire beach is engulfed in this light, only for none of the angels to be seen once the light ceases.

Author Notes: I’ve been “slacking” on my fiction, in the eyes of many (probably). But I really haven’t. The sequel to my book, Michael’s Wing, is definitely still in the works, and I’ve been hard at work on it. The book had to be toned down, and I’ve rewritten certain parts of it several times now, along with scrapping sixty percent of the book.

This short story will be one among many that I will be sending out, even after the release of my next dark fantasy book. These stories will be loose standalones, co-existing in the same universe of my Michael’s Wing series, resembling side stories that may or may not play a role in future books.

My short stories will come together in a compilation book and will be available on all platforms. The goal is to put so much into this series, whether that be spinoffs and multiple novels.

359 1/2 Days: Fictional Poetry Book Announcement

I know it seems like I have an announcement everyday, but I sit in front of my computer screen 80% of the day, so, yeah. Anyway, I got the crazy idea to blend my poetry and fiction together. In a two part Novel/Poetry collection series, I want to make a fictional story that is told in a first person narration style. The first book will be called 359 ½ Days. This is because each poem will count as a single day, with an overarching story telling everything from the point of view of a 14 year old, who longs for a girl he likes, but has moved away from being his neighbor. I’m kind of excited to write this out 🙂

Project unknown: Sneak Peak of a Piece Of Fiction I’m Working On

A sneak peak of an upcoming Dark Fantasy Thriller I’m working on:

Chapter 2-2

DEVAK: A teleportation sorcerer. (Slowly turns around to face them) Nice. (Holds his sidearm in hand) I haven’t seen one of those in about six years.

Allison teleports behind Devak, with a one-handed sword now against his throat.

DEVAK: I kind of figured my gun would be useless against you.

A surge of electricity soars through the air, taking the shape of a staff. Allison teleports, avoiding the attack as she ends back next to Breo. The electric staff hits the hall instead, dispersing upon impact.

Another male figure walks from an angled hallway, taking his place beside Devak.

DEVAK: (Looks at ally) I was wondering when you would make an entrance, Barrett.

BARRETT: (Summons another electric staff) Stop talking to me. Kill these two so we can go. I won’t have them chasing us.

Allison draws a longer blade in her freehand, now carrying two swords. She teleports several times, short distances as she makes her way down the hallway to both of her targets. Devak is seen firing at after images of her, not being able to keep up with his target’s movement.

Allison closes in on the two, attempting to strike Devak with her shorter blade, to his throat. Barrett intercepts her attack with a block from his electric staff, causing a large spark to frizzy. Breo rushes down the hallway, towards the three.

Allison continues to clash with the two adversaries, avoiding punches from Devak while blocking and dodging Barrett’s electric staff.

Becoming frustrated, Devak takes a close ranged shot. Allison teleports instantly, avoiding the now stray bullet. The bullet ricochets, tripping Breo as he barely avoids it. Breo falls to the floor.

Allison cuts Devak across the chest with her longer blade, Devak yelping and falling backwards as a string of blood flows through the air. Barrett goes in for another attack.

Allison attempts to teleport, knowing she can’t dodge the attack after just recently striking Devak. However, her sorcery doesn’t seem to work. The electric staff slams right into her chest, as Devak falls on his back.

Allison screams in pain, dropping to her knees as Barrett keeps the staff against her body for longer surges of damage. Breo rushes back to his feet, sprinting in their direction. Seeing the short distance Breo has to go, Barrett releases his staff from Allison, the electric after shocks forcing her body to twitch as she remains in place.

Breo gets close enough to Barrett, pushing his palm towards Barrett’s face. Barrett blocks the attack with his staff, a hallway explosion coming soon after that.

A thick cloud of smoke is formed, though soon after, Breo comes out of the smoke, helping Allison flee, half of her body leaning on Breo as she struggles to move as fast as him.

ALLISON: (Weakened Tone) My…my teleportation sorcery. I can’t use it.

BREO: (Grunts) Fuck. Devak must have touched you somehow.

Allison continues to speak in a weakened tone, heavily injured from the electricity she endured. The two are seen rushing down another long hallway.

ALLISON: But when? I made sure to move.

An image pops into Breo’s head, showcasing Allison slashing Devak across his chest. Devak’s blood goes into the air, a speck of blood landing on her cheek.

BREO: His blood. It touched you when you cut him.

Allison appears shocked.

ALLISON: How long does this last?

BREO: Hours. Maybe. It differs. My sorcery returned before Eddie’s.

Breo and Allsion make it to an elevator. Breo slams his finger on the elevator button continuously, while he holds up Allison. Allison starts to breathe heavier than usual.

BREO: I’ve got you. I’m going to get you out of here.

Barrett comes from around the corner, with Devak holding his chest and stumbling around the corner soon after.

BARRETT: (Speaks to Devak) Stay here. I’ll handle the rest.

Barrett summons a new arc staff, sprinting his way down the hallway. Breo places Allison against the wall, standing his ground as he waits for Barrett to get close enough to him.
